Highlights from Techrena 2026: AI, Europe & the Zlatan Mindset

In February, Sweden became the epicentre of European innovation as Techarena 2026 took place at Strawberry Arena in Stockholm. The event hosted over 11,000 attendees over two days, representing 125 nationalities and included international business executives, founders, investors, policymakers, and experts.

Discussions, stage sessions, and side events centred on cross-sector collaboration, AI initiatives & infrastructure, enterprise adoption, and the Nordic region’s growing strategic role in Europe’s tech expansion.

Besides the stage and side event agenda, Techarena 2026 hosted its annual startup competition TOP46, and the new hackathon concept – BuildArena, which focused on building launch-ready solutions and products for three different industry tracks during 12 hours.

Some of the most notable profiles on stage included Football Icon Zlatan Ibrahimović; former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson; Ebba Busch, Sweden’s Minister for Energy, Business and Industry; Arthur Mensch. CEO & Co-Founder, Mistral AI, and Ellen Svanström, CDIO, H&M.

Here are seven defining moments from Techarena 2026 on February 11-12.

1. Signing Strategic Partnership with VivaTech

Techarena and Viva Technology signed a strategic partnership to strengthen collaboration between the Nordic and French innovation ecosystems. The partnership opens new opportunities for startups, investors, and global tech leaders across Europe.

2. Epiminds Wins TOP46 Pitch Competition

Epiminds claimed the win in the TOP46 Startup Pitch Competition after impressing the jury with their innovation and vision. The competition brought together some of the most promising early-stage companies from across Europe.

3. Prestige Guerrilla – Winner of First Ever BuildArena

Team Prestige Guerrilla won the first-ever Buildarena hackathon at Techarena in the Defence Track with Nordic Air Defence. The team built a prototype addressing real-world security challenges in a high-pressure sprint. The team is based in Sweden and Norway.

4. Mistral AI: €1.2B Infrastructure Commitment

Mistral AI announced a €1.2 billion investment in AI infrastructure in partnership with the Swedish government. The initiative marks a major step toward strengthening Europe’s AI capabilities and accelerating the region’s technological competitiveness.

5. Zlatan, Boris Johnson & 15+ Unicorn Founders on Stage

From Zlatan Ibrahimović to Boris Johnson, along with 15+ unicorn founders, the Techarena stages brought together global leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors to discuss the future of technology, leadership, and innovation.

6. 8,000 Meetings Held at the Meeting Area

The Matchmaking Arena facilitated over 8,000 curated meetings between startups, investors, corporates, and ecosystem leaders — turning conversations into real business opportunities.

7. Startup, Scaleup, Ecosystem Districts & Country Pavilions

Startup and scaleup districts, ecosystem hubs, and international country pavilions transformed Techarena into a global meeting place for innovation, connecting founders, investors, corporates, and policymakers from around the world.
