Swedish startup Nordic Air Defence introduces the Kreuger 100 to counter drone threats

Nordic Air Defence, a Swedish startup, has unveiled the Kreuger 100, a new battery-powered drone with the potential to significantly enhance Europe’s air defense.

Backed by €1.2 million in funding from Norway’s SNÖ Ventures and other investors, the Stockholm-based company aims to counter the rising threat of drones, including the Russian Orlan-10 and the Iranian-designed Shahed.

Affordable innovation for wide-scale adoption

The Kreuger 100 utilizes sophisticated software-defined flight control and pulsed propulsion systems, significantly reducing production costs and enabling widespread deployment.

Unlike traditional interceptors, it relies on software and intelligent aerodynamics rather than expensive hardware, making it a more cost-effective solution.

In its civilian configuration, the interceptor can reach a top speed of 270 km/h, while military models are capable of even higher speeds. This innovative design allows for continuous operation in various weather conditions and at night, enhancing its overall operational flexibility.

Swedish startup pioneers defense technology

Karl Rosander, a former Acast executive, founded Nordic Air Defence with a team of experts, merging insights from both military and civilian sectors. The company’s rapid development process, validated by physicists at Sweden’s FOI, has resulted in the Kreuger 100 successfully passing prototype testing.

With three patents pending, it plans to expand its product lineup to address threats across air, land, sea, and subsea environments.

The startup is committed to reducing Europe’s dependence on foreign defense supply chains while strengthening strategic autonomy.

By participating in the Resilience Conference in London, the defense technology firm highlights its dedication to fostering collaboration between governmental and corporate sectors.

Amid shifting geopolitical dynamics, Karl Rosander underscores the urgency of enhancing domestic protection capabilities and advocates for reforms that improve tactical resilience.

With growing investments and strategic alliances, Nordic Air Defence is well-positioned to reshape European air defense technology.
