From its roots at Chalmers University of Technology, a research-based Swedish startup, Adsorbi AB, presents its debut product: a sustainable air filtration solution intended to shield artworks and fragile objects from deterioration brought about by contaminants. This debut reflects the startup’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge Swedish technology into its products.

Sustainable solutions from Nordic forests

The innovative adsorbing material is specifically engineered for the storage and transportation of art, providing extended durability and enhanced security. Adsorbi’s bio-based and superior performing adsorbent effectively purifies air in museums, galleries, and archives, making it a game-changer in art conservation.

The cellulose-based material is sourced from Nordic forests and produced within Europe, ensuring sustainability and minimizing carbon footprint. The white material transforms color at maximum capacity, allowing optimal air purification management.

Transformative air purification

Adsorbi’s CTO and co-founder acknowledges that air pollution within museum environments poses a significant risk to preserving valuable artifacts. Traditional methods, particularly activated carbon, have presented limitations that could harm these precious items.

Air pollution in museums is often disregarded or addressed with activated carbon; however, this material poses risks such as short product lifetimes and potential staining of objects

Adsorbi AB CEO and co-founder Hanna Johansson acknowledges that their new solution addresses these concerns, offering a long-lasting, safe alternative for preserving valuable art collections.

“Our mission is to create a more sustainable world by removing air pollution using bio-based materials

By initially focusing on the art industry, Adsorbi plans to expand its product offerings and serve other industries that need sustainable air purification solutions.

Expanding horizons

By introducing an eco-friendly air purification material that effectively addresses the concerns of art conservation, Adsorbi offers a solution for preserving valuable works of art and contributing significantly to improving overall air quality in museums, galleries, and archives.

This innovative approach presents a unique opportunity for startups that can positively impact cultural heritage and environmental sustainability.
