Top 30 Finalists Selected for Techarenan Challenge 2023 in Almedalen

Techarenan is announcing the 30 companies competing in the finals of Techarenan Challenge 2023, which is taking place during Almedalsveckan on June 28-29 in Visby, Gotland. Hundreds of companies from all over the Nordics applied, and the finalists come from a wide range of industries including energy, cleantech, fintech, foodtech, healthtech, musictech and more.

The finalists will be competing for the titles “Startup Company of the Year” or “Growth Company of the Year.” There will also be awards including “Social Impact Award”, “Audience Award,” “Industrial Award,” and “Business Award.”

“This is one of the strongest and most versatile line-ups we’ve had so far at Techarenan Challenge. It’s impressive to see how entrepreneurs in various fields have, or are about to, change their respective industries, create new standards and improve society. I’m very much looking forward to following their journey in the coming years,” says Techarenan CEO and Founder Omid Ekhlasi.

This is the 10th annual edition of Techarenan Challenge, an entrepreneurship competition aimed towards Swedish and Nordic companies in the startup and growth phase who possess a unique innovation or business idea with the potential to be commercialized on the global market.

The companies have been evaluated by an expert jury, with a large focus on scalability, sustainability, and well-defined growth opportunities.

“Year after year, the Nordic’s continue to foster new innovative companies with great potential. It is clear that the region really is a hub for extraordinary companies, which create products and services that will change our lives for the better,” Ekhlasi continued.

Pitches in front of a jury in Almedalen

In Almedalen, the 30 finalist companies will pitch in front of a jury on the Techarenan Challenge event stage on Wednesday, June 28. The jury consists of well-known investors and entrepreneurs with broad knowledge in the Nordic tech and startup ecosystem.

Seven companies move through to a final round of pitches on Thursday June 29, which takes place before a live audience and TV production on the Techarenan main stage.

Alongside the competition, Techarenan also arranges panel discussions and seminars on three different stages in Almedalen. The arena is also home to a Tech Exhibition including the 30 finalist companies in Techarenan Challenge.

“Almedalsveckan is a great forum and one of the most important public events in Sweden, bringing together both the private and public sectors. This makes for a great venue for the finalists to showcase their products, expand their networks, find potential partners and customers, and connect with their peers and other finalists”, said Omid Ekhlasi.

The winners of Techarenan Challenge will receive a spot in the Winner’s Delegation which, in previous years, has visited New York, San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo and Sao Paulo.
